Lithology and Thickness
Basal Fm consists of conglomerates, quartz gravelites, and sandstones with interlayers and lenses of claystones. The power is 2070 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The deposits lie with a sharp angular unconformity on the Paleozoic rocks
Upper contact
overlain discordantly by the Upper Cretaceous.
Regional extent
In the southern part of the Turkestan region, J1+2 deposits are exposed along the rivers Kshut, Zauran, Rivat, Surhat.
